Building Impact Holiday Gift Card Drive Banner

The best thing you can give youth and their caregivers this holiday season is the gift of choice! We encourage you to celebrate this season by participating in our Holiday Gift Card Drive to support underserved youth and families. Nationally, we are partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and in Massachusetts we are partnering with HopeWell and Bridges Homeward.

Learn More About the Youth and Families You Are Supporting

Below are just three profiles out of the hundreds of families and youth supported by our nonprofit partners. While each youth and family are unique, they share common challenges. Your donated gift card will go a long way to brighten this holiday season for a child, teen, or family facing challenges or feeling isolated this holiday season - perhaps the greatest gift is in knowing that there is someone from their community who cares!

Big Brothers Big Sisters - Virginia (left) Tiffany (right)

Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

Tiffany and her Little, Virginia, are all about supporting one another. Growing up as an only child, Virginia dealt with confidence issues and always wanted an older sister to look up to and help her through hard times – Tiffany is just that! Virginia and Tiffany spend many of their outings at Barnes and Noble, browsing books, and crocheting. Virginia describes her Big as, “a great role model who means so much to me,” and now wants to become a Big Sister, “just like Tiffany” when she is older! Your donation will give Littles like Virginia the opportunity to buy a gift for themselves or for someone special in their life like a family member or their Big!

Hopewell - Ben

HopeWell

Many young people turning 18 are fortunate to have family who can support and guide them as they launch into adulthood. But for youth experiencing foster care, “aging out” at 18 often means navigating adulthood without a safety net or permanent supports. Ben is a senior at UMass Boston, majoring in biology with a minor in cognitive science on the pre-med track. He spent the past year conducting research with the Golby Lab at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. It was just three years ago that he exited foster care and joined HopeWell’s My First Place™ program looking for a way to navigate his future. With the stability of a shared, rent- free apartment and individualized supports provided by staff members, Ben has been able to make significant strides towards his educational goals. My First Place™ provided him the safety, security, and guidance that has allowed him to focus on his future. Your gift card donation will make life a little easier for all of the hard-working young adults in My First Place™ and help them enjoy the holidays!
Bridges Homeward - David

Bridges Homeward

David, age 10, has been in foster care since he was 5 years old. David is gregarious and energetic, and makes a positive impression on everyone he meets. He loves people, celebrations, and playing outside. David comes from a family of many siblings, and his relationships with his brothers and sisters are the most important thing in the world to him. Someday in the future, the hope is that David can be adopted by his oldest sister. Until that day comes, Bridges Homeward works very hard with David’s foster parents to keep him connected to his siblings, regularly organizing parties so he can spend time with his brothers and sisters for major holidays like Christmas and for his birthday. Your donation will help make the holiday season brighter for foster youth like David.
