About Building Impact: For more than twenty years, Building Impact (BI) has partnered with companies to strengthen communities through volunteering with local nonprofit organizations. Our mission is to strengthen communities by empowering individuals and companies with the opportunity to volunteer, donate, and connect with high impact, local nonprofits working on critical social issues. In 2024, we worked with more than 58 companies, and engaged more than 11,000 volunteers resulting in $2.4 million total contribution in support of nonprofit organizations and communities across the United States.

Planning & Preparation
Advance preparation to understand the scope of the project, learning about the nonprofit partner for the project, and immersing yourself in the logistics and planning for the event.
Delivery
Facilitation and delivery of the program or project where you will take the lead to highlight the mission and impact of the nonprofit partner and then guide volunteers through the project.
Follow Up & Closure
Following each event, closing the loop with the BI team on the logistics of the event, providing feedback on the event itself, and elevating any questions or concerns that may arise during the event.

Program Team Intern - Fall Semester 2026
Building Impact is searching for a self-driven hard-working individual who wants to make a positive impact on the Greater Boston community and beyond. Join our Program team to help plan, promote, and organize corporate days of service this fall. You'll gain hands-on experience in event logistics, program communications, and inventory management while helping bring our volunteer programs to life. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the national nonprofit landscape, build professional skills, and contribute to meaningful corporate volunteer projects that create real social impact.
About the Role
Title: Program Team Intern - Fall Semester 2026
Office Address: 250 Summer Street, Fl 4 Boston, MA 02110
Duration: September 2026- December 2026 (Flexible start/end dates based on academic schedule)
Location: In-person on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
Hours: 10-15 hours per week

Position Description and Scope of Work
Program Support (80%)
- Get hands-on with event prep by packing, unpacking, and organizing supplies for volunteer programs across the region.
- Help keep the office running smoothly through inventory management and supply purchasing.
- Support key nonprofit partnerships by coordinating logistics around donation shipment, delivery, and collection of kits and supplies.
- Manage the shipment of kits and supplies to nonprofit partners, gaining experience in logistics and operations.
- Assist in developing virtual volunteering experiences using the Heyflow platform.
General Organizational Support (20%):
- Assist with facilitating corporate days of service on-site at client offices or at local nonprofits
- Research nonprofit partner organizations and develop informational resources about their volunteer opportunities and current needs
- Support office upkeep to ensure that our shared workspace is organized and professional
- Record and share meeting minutes for Program Team meetings
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and competencies:
- Passion for and interest in Building Impact’s mission of community engagement and volunteerism
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Comfort with technology and ability to learn and build competency with the tools of the job
- Demonstrated professionalism. Intern shows up on time, dressed appropriately and follows organizational systems.
- Comfort with ambiguity and problem solving
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Google Drive systems
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage time well
- Ability to handle moderate to heavy lifting when needed
- Experience with public speaking and event facilitation is a plus
Schedule and Compensation
- September 2026 - December 2026 (with the potential to extend into winter months, pending evaluation. Flexible start/end dates – can accommodate an academic or work schedule)
- 10-15 hours per week with preference for Tuesday and/or Thursdays between 9am-5pm
- Paid or credited hourly, commensurate with experience
