Meet The Team

  • Bridget Akinc

    CEO

    Bridget joined Building Impact as CEO in 2017. Bridget joined the organization to catalyze its growth in impact, and serves on the faculty of MIT teaching a course called "Leading With Impact."  

    Prior to entering the nonprofit arena, Akinc led teams focused on technology and go-to-market strategy, for high-growth Silicon-Valley based software companies like BEA Systems, and for non-profits like The New Teacher Project. Akinc began her career as a consultant in the information technology practice at the Boston Consulting Group, and maintains a strong connection to education, ever since her days of earning her teaching certification in New Jersey.

    Bridget earned an undergraduate degree in education policy at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, and a graduate degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management.  Akinc loves running, coaching her kids' teams, and exploring the outdoors.

  • Kate Kerrigan

    Sr. Director of Nonprofit Programs

    Kate joined Building Impact in 2016 as the Director of Nonprofit Programs. She is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships and strategic partnerships with local nonprofits, community-based organizations, and schools. Prior to working for Building Impact, Kate was the Director of Corporate Engagement at United Way. She has a Master of Arts in International Studies and has spent extensive time living in Africa, India and South America working for multiple NGOs. She loves the outdoors, enjoys running and being a mom of two.

  • Caryn Conway

    Director, Partner Engagement

    Caryn joined Building Impact in 2018 as the Director of Partner Engagement.  She is responsible for the client relationship with Building Impact’s real estate and corporate partners.  Prior to Caryn’s recent nonprofit corporate volunteer experience, she worked in the for-profit financial industry in international custody and equity research following investment banks and large regional banks.  She has Bachelor of Science in business from Villanova University and a Masters in Finance from Boston College. Outside of the office, Caryn enjoys skiing, travelling and spending time with her 3 boys.

  • Caroline Grindrod

    Manager of Operations & Ambassador Program

    Caroline joined Building Impact in 2017 as the Operations Manager. She works directly with our ambassador program, handles the financial and operations tasks and works on the business development team. Prior to Building Impact, Caroline interned with Breakthrough of Greater Boston, MGH’s Institute of Health Professions and the US Senate. She graduated from Boston College with a degree in marketing and management in 2017. Caroline enjoys volunteering as a CASA, attending Union United Methodist, and doing any activity on, in, or near the water.

  • Isabela Cheng

    Data Analyst & Digital Associate

    Isabela joined Building Impact in 2018 as a Data Analyst. She is responsible for capturing data for impact measurement, social media, and marketing communications, and works on the Nonprofit Programs team.  Prior to Building Impact, Isabela interned at the Somerville City Hall Health and Human Services department and worked as a translator at NGOs like Plan International and the Panamanian Family Planning Association. She graduated from Tufts University with a degree in economics and community health. Isabela enjoys spending time with her Best Buddy, swimming, and reading fiction.

  • Christina Armand

    Business Development Coordinator

    Christina joined Building Impact in 2019 as the Non-Profit Coordinator. She is responsible for cultivating and managing strategic partnerships with local nonprofits, community-based organizations, and schools. Prior to Building Impact, Christina interned with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mass Bay. She’d worked primarily on the Program Services team and assisted with recruiting, enrolling, assessing potential mentors. Christina graduated from Boston University with a degree in Psychology. In her free time, she enjoys exploring Boston, staying active and travelling.
