Summer months can be a challenging time for families whose children heavily rely on school's breakfasts and lunch. Our partner organizations reported seeing more than 130% increase in the number of local children served whose families are facing food insecurity this summer!

ABCD operates five food pantries for Boston residents: Allston/Brighton, East Boston, Mattapan, Parker Hill/Fenway, and Roxbury/North Dorchester. Their core food based programs also include assisting individuals in completing and filing their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program application, holiday meal programs, and hosting workshops.
In 2021, ABCD prepared 843,660 meals for children in Head Start, provided 4,773 families with food pantry services, and distributed food to 1,445 elders through the Senior Brown Bag Program.
Centre Street Food Pantry is a regional food relief agency that serves Newton and eight neighboring cities. Centre Street works to provide families within the Newton and Boston community with consistent access to nutritious food in a dignified, sensitive and inclusive environment.
Their organization serves more than 1,000 families a month and provides 3,500 grocery bags or the equivalent of to 50,000 pounds of food.
People Helping People provides assistance to residents of the town of Burlington, Massachusetts who have a need for food, medicine, heat or utilities and to provide for holiday food baskets and gifts for children. PHP is the umbrella organization overseeing the Burlington Community Food Pantry, The Burlington Covenant for Basic Needs and the Holiday Program. As a community organization, we strive to address the needs of those who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances by providing them with basic needs and more importantly compassion, understanding, and support.
Lovin’ Spoonfuls is dedicated to facilitating the rescue and distribution of healthy, fresh food that would otherwise be discarded throughout Greater Boston, MetroWest, Worcester County, Hampden County, and beyond. Breaking new ground in the food rescue movement, they connect community resources by linking grocery stores, produce wholesalers, and farms to local meal programs and social service entities serving those in need.
