With the rise in recognition surrounding Juneteenth, it is crucial not to lose sight of its significance. Though the holiday is a celebration of Black freedom and joys, it also serves as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done and of the struggles that many still experience today due to the color of their skin. This Juneteenth, you can help by supporting two of our nonprofit partners dedicated to amplifying the voices of those most impacted by systemic racism: InnerCity Weightlifting and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless. These two organizations are collaborating to host a free virtual workout and are accepting donations that will directly assist their missions. Click here to learn more.

As we wrap up the first half of the year, we are grateful to the 12,400 virtual volunteers who've positively impacted 88,000+ lives throughout the country. We look forward to what's to come, as we continue to evolve our work to engage volunteers virtually and in-person to provide much-needed supplies and services to our nonprofit partners.

Over half of the state is fully vaccinated and all pandemic restrictions have been lifted—nevertheless, many families will still continue to struggle with the wide-ranging effects of COVID-19, including increased food insecurity. According to WBUR, "even though the economy is slowly inching back, we are looking at literally millions of families who've lost a year of income and normality. And so, even though they might start their jobs up again tomorrow, that doesn't mean that a year's worth of bills and piled-up expenses aren't still staring them in the face." With your donation, you will help us reach our goal of $10K and ensure that local families will have access to nutritious food throughout the summer. |
As we gear up for the back-to-school season, we are partnering with Heading Home to equip high school students from low-income families with the essentials they need to thrive and learn in the classroom. This July and August, you have the opportunity to virtually volunteer to assemble a Backpack filled with school supplies for a local high school student in need. Click here to learn more!
For the 7th consecutive year, Building Impact partnered with MIT Sloan School of Management to apply the business experience, knowledge, and skills of the EMBA and MBA students to projects with 24 nonprofits in Greater Boston in our Leading With Impact (LWI) program. With significant work to make this possible virtually, our Nonprofit hosts received direct pro-bono consulting from a team of diverse leaders to address an operational challenge. The collaboration between MIT EMBA students and Nonprofit Leaders created transformative models for the delivery of services reaching thousands of lives.
This year, we added an additional virtual engagement program to LWI week in partnership with YearUp. The MIT EMBA cohort had an opportunity to engage with YearUp Alums and Interns to conduct mock interviews and a resume review workshop.
This year alone, we've facilitated in-kind donations of 800+ pieces of office furniture (valued at $150,000+) from our corporate partners to our nonprofit partners. As your company begins to return to the office, if you have gently used furniture that can use a new home please reach out to us at volunteer@buildingimpact.org and we can help you make arrangements to donate them to a local nonprofit or school.
Over 12,000 volunteers have already engaged in our Virtual Volunteering opportunities! Join us, and follow Building Impact on LinkedIn to stay updated on our latest offerings!
