Building Impact would like to thank every company and individual for giving generously to our Feeding Families Food Drive this February, part of an initiative by the Boston Globe Foundation, Boston Cares, the Greater Boston Food bank, Room to Grow, and Building Impact.
Through your participation, we shattered our goal of 5,000 lbs by donating a total of 8,662 lbs of food to the Greater Boston Food Bank through online and physical donations. Most of the food was in the form of protein and baby food, supplies that the Greater Boston Food Bank is in greatest need of at this time of year.
After an inspiring day of driving around Greater Boston - from Lowell to Southboro to Quincy - the Building Impact staff drove into the loading dock of the Greater Boston Food Bank with 4 carloads (of just over 1,000 lbs each) of canned goods. The staff from the Food Bank where flabbergasted by the overwhelming amount of donated items. "We are impressed when a drive brings in 500 pounds, this was incredible!" said Emily Yerby, head of Food Acquisition.
The team worked quickly to unload their donations and filled 5 large watermelon crates to overflowing. Between online donations, company competitions, and individual giving, everyone who participated in the drive should feel proud to be a part of the impact we made together. Your donations will stock the shelves of over 600 hunger-relief agencies served by the Greater Boston Food Bank throughout Eastern Massachusetts.
In a time when more people are coming to these agencies than they have ever seen before, thank you for making this Building Impact's most successful food drive ever.
