On Wednesday, Feb. 17th, 21 R.E.Action 2010 volunteers from 6 companies gathered after work at the Greater Boston Food Bank to help sort food. Inside GBFB's new, eye-catching building, we sorted through 5675 pounds of food - including LOTS of candy - and helped the food bank create boxes of food items that would then be redistributed to hundreds of direct-service hunger organizations around Boston, such as churches and homeless shelters. The food we sorted will make 3503 meals possible.

Yesterday's food sort was in conjunction with a "Tummy to Toes" food drive in which R.E.Action companies are participating that, to date, has collected over 4800 pounds of food for the Food Bank. This two-fold approach means that R.E.Action companies have a more holistic exposure to the hunger-reduction infrastructure in Greater Boston - while they are truly helping the hungry.
