Building Impact's Non-Profit Network met for the second time yesterday afternoon and enjoyed ice cream to stave off the heat. We talked about the network's accomplishments so far: changing the way Building Impact plans our calendar to better accomodate the needs of our partners, and setting up a monthly list serve outlining all of the available items that BI participating companies want to donate. We also talked about some exciting plans for the rest of 2010.
Denise Riebman, of the Heller School of Public Policy at Brandeis University, then gave a presentation on professionalizing volunteer roles. The group discussed strategies for finding multiple ways for volunteers to engage with their organizations on a deeper level. Participants left with "wheels turning" for new ideas to bring back to their organizations, as well as some new thoughts for the network as a whole.
Many thanks to Paradigm Properties for lending us their conference room at Cambridgepark.
