Building Impact launches R.E.Action 2010 Campaign

Real estate industry year of community service seeks to bring industry together to strengthen communities

BOSTON (January 8, 2010) - Building Impact, a non-profit agency that partners with building owners and managers to deliver volunteer, donation and social networking activities to tenant companies and their employees, has announced the launch of the R.E.Action campaign, The Real Estate Industry Year of Community Service.

The campaign is a concerted effort to bring together real estate related services such as owners, managers, brokers, engineers, architects, vendors, lenders, and lawyers throughout Greater Boston to work together to benefit local community initiatives.  The campaign is intended to strengthen industry relationships, increase community service and generate new volunteers and donors within the real estate industry.

“The launch of our annual R.E.Action year of service is an exceptionally exciting endeavor for us to undertake,” said Lisa Guyon, Executive Director of Building Impact. “We are thrilled to be able to bring the real estate industry together in an effort to strengthen the communities in which we work and live through community service and volunteerism. The non-profit partner organizations that will benefit from the initiative will put the donations and manpower to good use as they strive to meet the increased community needs.”

Volunteer activities range from an Earth Day clean-up along the banks of the Charles River to renovating a local community shelter for veterans. Various donation drives will provide the opportunity for participating companies to donate school supplies, take part in blood drives, and purchase pies to benefit home-bound patients during the holiday season, among other options. Professional development events will include a corporate team challenge to fight hunger and a chance for young professionals to meet and network.

The year of service will commence following a January 14th Kick-off Reception for all participating companies. Building Impact partners with owners and managers of office and apartment buildings to deliver volunteer, donation and social networking activities to tenant companies and building residents. By meeting people where they work and live, they break down time and access barriers to community involvement. For real estate companies, Building Impact’s program is a socially responsible and cost-effective way to foster building community and build tenant loyalty.  100% of all volunteer time, donated items or money raised through their program is channeled directly to a network of 30 non-profit partner organizations.
